A New Piece
Montana Agate accented with onyx, moonstone, amber and carnelian. Set in sterling silver with bronze wire. By Lisa

Chrysocolla is a copper-bearing gem that is often found mixed with malachite, azurite and turquoise. These mixtures can make for some beautiful patterns in the gem and make the stone harder (chrysocolla on its own is around 2-4 on the Mohs scale). Facts aside, I find the stone to be exquisitely beautiful! The pendant is approximately 2″ long and is made from Fine and Sterling silver. Strung on leather with Sterling clasp. By Lisa. Available on our e-commerce website.

Aptly named Citrine on the Rocks by my dear sister, Shauna! In her own words: “Citrine on the Rocks incorporates a design element from an earlier piece, a necklace named Shadowbox, which can be seen in our online gallery. Of what does the setting remind you? For me, it could be basking like a lizard on a rocky shore of Lake Travis, hopping rocks at Barton Creek, or painting scenes of boulders on Yosemite’s Merced River. Sometimes it’s fun to take an old piece and give it new life. That’s what I did with the two pieces shown below. The piece on the left, Golden Heart, is only different in placement of the 24k gold on the face of the heart. The earrings on the right, Silver Discs Citrine, have a completely different texture from the original design. I’m not sure which I like better! Each earring is about the size of a nickel. Both of these can be seen in person at Beadoholique in Cypress or conveniently ordered online. Silver Discs Citrine Golden Heart

Faux Bone
Here is a photo of my first endeavor with faux bone. This material is a plastic–some on the net say (with disdain?) that it is a pvc material–that I found easy to carve once I got down to the detail. I have not carved actual bone so can’t compare the two. The most difficult part about cutting this plate was grinding down the level surrounding our star with swirl logo, to create relief. A variety of small burs and my Foredom made the rest a pleasurable experience, even getting into that swirled line, once I got a feel for the density of the material. The color consists of a layer…
