Greetings!
It has been a long time. Life interruptus. The jewelry remains, however. Over time we have continued going to a couple of shows a year, Lisa now owns a bead shop, and we both continue to push ahead. Since the last time I posted I have continued the bronze work….making coffee beans from that metal and applying to earrings. Last weekend I made some bronze “nails” that I plan to put into faux bone, a new material I recently purchased to try. It is fun to carve: I will soon post a picture of my first endeavor replacing a broken plate on front of a Brighton business card case. It turned out nicely so am moving forward with that stuff.
Tonight I am putting up a pair of earrings that are in a completely different category, though, ones I made this weekend with some leftover kyanite beads we’d bought for the Bluebonnet necklace. I named them “Unchain My Kyanite”….a better photo will grace the website soon, thanks to Lisa. These earrings are in that category of pieces that are made from what you have on hand: you look at stuff on your bench, muse over that and perhaps a little sketch you made of some cool earrings seen somewhere…then something happens. The result doesn’t look like the little sketch at all, but I know it’s part of where I started. Lisa likes to use chains, too, and I have probably been influenced by that, though she always hangs hers down like oak tree “chains” (we called them as children)–single strands of chain. Who knows–maybe that’s where her inspiration lies! The subconscious is a wonderful thing. I hope you like the earrings…what a smokin’ blue…!
