Since the last time I posted I have continued the bronze work….making coffee beans from that metal and applying to earrings. Last weekend I made some bronze “nails” that I plan to put into faux bone, a new material I recently purchased to try. These earrings are in that category of pieces that are made from what you have on hand: you look at stuff on your bench, muse over that and perhaps a little sketch you made of some cool earrings seen somewhere…then something happens. The result doesn’t look like the little sketch at all, but I know it’s part of where I started. Lisa likes to use chains, too, and I have probably been influenced by that, though she always hangs hers down like oak tree “chains” (we called them as children)–single strands of chain. Who knows–maybe that’s where her inspiration lies! The subconscious is a wonderful thing.
